About Us
The Bible has had a profound influence on American community life, law, literature, music, art, and history. The Bible has also had a significant effect upon world history and culture. Since a complete education must include the religious and biblical influences on the world and American culture, the CCBTA was organized to provide funds for the teaching of academic courses in Bible to students at CCHS.
Teaching academic Bible courses in public education is a legal enterprise as ruled by the US Supreme Court. In Abington Township vs. Shempp, the Supreme Court stated that “the Bible is worthy of study for its literary and historical qualities alone”. The court goes on to say that “the Bible may be constitutionally used in an appropriate study of history.
The CCBTA is registered with the IRS as a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization. Which means we are a public charity that receives its public support primarily from gifts, grants and contributions from a broad group of people and businesses. It also means that our sole purpose is to support the bible classes at Central Cabarrus. That means all staff and board of directors are volunteers.
