Digging into the past through engaging experiences.
The Bible has had a profound influence on American community life, law, literature, music, art, and history. The Bible has also had a significant effect upon world history and culture.
Since a complete education must include the religious and biblical influences on the world and American culture, the Central Cabarrus Bible Teaching Association was organized to provide funds for the teaching of academic courses in Bible to students at CCHS.
Teaching academic Bible courses in public education is a legal enterprise as ruled by the US Supreme Court. In Abington Township vs. Shempp, the Supreme Court stated that “the Bible is worthy of study for its literary and historical qualities alone”. The Court goes on to say that “the Bible may be constitutionally used in an appropriate study of history.

What Our Students Say
“Bible class meant the world to me in high school. Not only did I get to dig deeper into the stories I thought I knew, but I also got to learn under a woman I consider one of the most influential role models I’ve ever had. She made learning fun, and every day I was excited to go to class!”
— Gena Thomas, Class of 2001
“The Central Cabarrus High School Bible Class was very beneficial to me in my academics. History is important because it helps us learn from our mistakes, and that class taught me a lot about history in areas we don’t normally learn about. One of the most memorable classes of my high school career.”
— Kevin Robles, Class of 2019
“I think often of Bible Class. For the first time in my life, Bible was fun and engaging. I still remember her telling stories while dressed up as shepherds or kings (hopping up on desks and singing songs). I still remember the hand motions to some of the scripture we learned that year…and I’ve taught them to my kids. It’s amazing that I remember more from her class than all the high school history classes combined. It was a worthwhile experience!”
— Meredith Carpenter Broadway, Class of 2000
“Ms. Hicks’ class isn’t just about learning the Bible. It’s a community, a safe space, and a home. The only thing I regret is not having joined sooner.”
— Cameron Carmona, Class of 2019
“The HUT is a family that I’m forever grateful to have been a part of. It had a profound impact on my life and I cherished every moment.”
— Britney Wright, Class of 2019
